Doggie Birthday Cake

Ingredients

3/4 cup cornmeal

3/4 cup unbleached flour

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 Teaspoon Molasses

1 large egg(slightly beaten)

1 cup water

beef Jerky treats ( torn into 1/4 inch pieces)

8-ounce package fat free cream cheese

1 teaspoon baking powder

 

Directions

Stir together the cornmeal,flours,baking soda and baking powder in a medium sized bowl. Add the molasses,egg and water, stir well.

Stir in the beef jerky pieces until well distributed in the dough Spread the dough evenly into a greased 8 inch square cake pan Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degree's for about 20 to 25 minutes.

Let the cake completely cool. Spread the cream cheese thinly on top of the cooled cake (if the cream cheese is spread too thinly it will begin to crack after a while.)

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Makes 16 2-by-2 inch servings
