      HOLIDAY FRESH FRUIT SALAD

NOTE: My grandmother and mother served this every Christmas Dinner, but there was no recipe for it. I created the recipe and added the sherry. I serve it in the same crystal compote my grandmother and mother used. It's delicious!

      INGREDIENTS
      1 cup sugar
      1-1/2 cups water
      Juice of 1 lemon
3 navel oranges, peeled and sectioned
2 green apples, unpared, cored and diced.
2 red apples, unpared, cored, and diced
1 cup of fresh pineapple, cubed in 1-inch squares
      3 bananas, sliced
      1-1/2 cups green seedless grapes
1-1/2 cups red or purple grapes, halved and seeded
      1/4 cup sherry wine
      1/2 cup chopped pecans

      DIRECTIONS
Dissolve sugar in water in 1-quart saucepan.
Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered until light syrup is formed (about 10 minutes); remove from heat and add lemon.
Mix all fruits in large bowl.
Pour lemon syrup over fruit and toss gently until evenly coated.
      Cover and refrigerate.
Just before serving, add pecans and stir in sherry
