Sandy's Down-Home Chili
Ingredients
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 medium sweet onion, finely chopped
1 medium red bell pepper, finely chopped
1 teaspoon of bottled minced garlic
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 jar Tabasco Brand Chili Sauce (comes in Mild, Medium, Hot .... I use Medium) If you can't find this at the market, click here Tabasco Country Store to order online.
1 - (15 ounce) can stewed, chopped tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup golden brown sugar
2 (15 ounce) cans chili beans (drained)
V-8 Juice for desired consistency
Directions
Brown the meat in a large non-stick skillet and drain all grease off. Transfer meat to either a large crockpot or a Dutch oven.
Note: I make my chili in a large crockpot
Add the rest of the ingredients to either the crockpot or the Dutch oven. In a crockpot, cook on low for 4 to 6 hours. In a Dutch oven, simmer for 1 hour, stirring frequently.
(If you like your chili hot, add chili powder to desired taste)
